There are many companies out there exploiting independent musicians. NeverPayToPlay.com has a mission to expose “Pay to Play” scams perpetrated by unethical promoters and venues. The site provides general advice, and calls out a number of companies who prey on naive musicians. They were even sued by one such company, and went to court for several years to fight the bogus charges (and won!) Every musician should check out this site and show support for an organization that has an incomparable record of protecting musicians from exploitaiton.
