Web-based tools connect hosts with musicians
Limited to living-room friendly genres & acts
If you're a singer/songwriter or folk musician looking to tour the U.S., Concerts in Your Home is a living room tour circuit you should know about.
Concerts in Your Home has a slogan: “Living rooms were made for live music.” Judging by the recent explosion in home-hosted shows, they’re right on. Their site features a rich suite of tools to connect home concert hosts with touring musicians. (Since these are living rooms after all, acceptable music genres tend toward acoustic singer/songwriter.)
Currently, the site boasts over 300 participating touring professionals. Each must pass an audition and evaluation in order to qualify for booking. Artist profiles list the feedback they’ve received from previous house concert hosts in CIYH’s network.
By networking all of its host venues (living rooms) together, CIYH can provide entire U.S. tour routes for musicians to earn a decent living from generous donations and merch sales. Often, hosts provide room and board and just love hanging with touring musicians.
If you’re a folk artist that tours the states, you’ve probably heard of Concerts in Your Home. It’s no exaggeration to say that this organization is helping to keep live folk performance alive in the U.S.
